About
Our mandate is to build the economic capacity of the communities we serve and create jobs.

South Lake Futures is a locally governed, not-for-profit organization delivering the Government of Canada's Community Futures Program to the Town of East Gwillimbury, the Town of Georgina, the Township of Brock, as well as those reserve lands for Chippewas of Georgina Island first Nation.
We have a volunteer Board of Directors consisting of 12 business and community leaders from across the three municipalities we serve. A staff of four is engaged in the process of providing business and economic development services to our communities, reviewing and processing applications for funding and managing our loan portfolio and the various projects we are funding or engaged in. The number of active loans we have fluctuates between 65-80. In addition to the projects we are providing funding to, we also support Community Economic Development Projects.
South Lake Futures operates under a contribution agreement with the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDev Ontario) to provide Community Futures Programming in the communities we serve. The Community Futures Program is a national, rural, community economic development initiative. Community Futures Development Corporations provide business loans to small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) and social enterprises. They also provide business counselling, education services and offer access to business resources and assistance with starting a new business. In addition, CFDCs work with local businesses, not-for-profits, municipalities, first nations, provincial and regional governments on a wide variety of community economic development planning initiatives and projects.
